Cyril Walter Taylor, Captain (RCAF)
November 6, 1934 – March 8, 2019

Cyril was pre-deceased by parents Cyril H and Rosetta I Taylor, sister Adele McNiven, son Lance Colin Grant Taylor, grand-son Abel Court, brother-in-law Robert Meunier, and nephew Scott Horak.
Cyril is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorraine, as well as their children Garth (Susan), Valerie (Bruce), and Darcy (David); grandchildren: Emily, Ethan, Christopher, Daniel, Carissa, Rebeca, Angela, Marissa, Colin, Casey; great-grandchildren: Emmett, Jacen, Jazmyn, Amber, (with another two on the way!); siblings: Pam (Al) Horak, and Theresa (Robert) Taylor and their families; plus ‘son’ Rick Jenkner.

“Cy” was born in Vancouver but lived in New Zealand for 7 yrs before returning by Troup Ship between VE and VJ Days in 1945, when his parents settled in Fruitvale, BC. A tall boy in short pants with a Cockney accent, Cyril was different. He loved cars and motorcycles, and made life-long friends in the Okanagan Valley. A graduate of Kelowna High School (1952), Cyril joined the Air Force at 18, excelling in Avionics within 402 Squadron. While stationed in Winnipeg he married Lorraine (1957), and also purchased his infamous 1952 Jaguar XK120 coupe.

Cyril became a specialized European-auto mechanic when his young family moved to California in the late 60s, and after returning to Canada in 1975, Cy continued ‘wrenching’ professionally and as a hobby, operating Cy’s Import Auto from the family home for over 20 yrs before retiring. He was a Captain and Commanding Officer of two Air Cadet Corps (Summerland and Royal Roads), plus a charter member of AFAWing 883. Cyril and Lorraine owned/operated A&A Mini Storage and Wine Cellar in Summerland for 23 years, while Cyril worked security at the Research Station and Penticton Airport. He finally retired to Prince George in 2017.
